Thanksgiving is coming upon us so I’ve invited Andy Baraghani to co-host Good Food’s yearly Thanksgiving show where we answer questions put to us by you, the cooks and eaters. Andy is author of The Cook You Want To Be, a freelance recipe developer and former Bon Appetit Senior Food Editor. We’ve asked him to bring some friends of his to the audio table so it should be great fun that yields a ton of useful information for you. So, tell us, what would you like to know? Put your question in the comments and listen in on November 19th for the answer.
We’ve done many of these shows over the years and they continue to entertain. Here’s one from 2010 featuring Turducken and Diep Tran’s Turkey as a side dish. In 2018 Dorie Greenspan co-hosted with me. We had so much fun! In 2020 David Chang and Andrea Nguyen joined me for so many laughs and great ideas.
Please ask away and listen in a few weeks to the answers!
Hello Evan,
Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday (cooking with and feeding the people I love). We have a few guests with diabetes and I'd love to offer them a safer option for dessert. Also, we are not fans of super sweet desserts. I am looking for a delicious lower-in-sugar apple pie or galette recipe. By the way I've been using Barb's Butter crust recipe and it's terrific!
I'm a dietitian and heard you speak at a pediatric nutrition conference at CHOC hospital - I've been a fan ever since. Thank you for all you do!
Kindest Regards,
Eleni Gatsios
Thank you for your support and guidance with planning our Thanksgiving dinner this year. We decided to have duck, and then decided to have a sort of tribute to Ukraine featuring all Eastern European recipes. For the duck we referenced a Melissa Clark Crisp Roast Duck recipe and a Whole Crispy Duck recipe from Waitrose. We were most interested in the process, not the ingedients. The duck was just seasoned with salt and pepper and served with a fruity plum sauce (not Chinese). Other dishes were Ukrainian, Polish, etc. with ingredients like rye breads for the stuffing, smoked trout spread appetizer, beet borscht with home made pylmeni, green beans with poppy seeds, mashed potatoes with caramelized apples. We had a lot of fun. The duck was delicious. We also bought a turkey breast and cooked it to have with the leftovers.
