I am thrilled to announce that my dear friend Elizabeth Minchilli has asked me to host another tour, this time to the region of Puglia, the heel of the boot. How do six food focused days in October sound to you? It sounds pretty dreamy to me. From my first visit to the stunning baroque town of Lecce decades ago the region captivated me. I’ve always thought of Puglia as Greek Italy in terms of the look of towns and the food which is heavily focused on vegetables, seafood, cheese and olive oil. We’ll be centered in the Salento, the tip of the heel, where panoramas of the seasides are glorious. Fall is the perfect time to visit since the sweltering heat of summer is past yet it’s still warm enough to be outside. Maybe we’ll even be able to swim! We’ll be based in Lecce and Monopoli and visit some of the most beautiful towns in the region: (Ostuni, Gallipoli, Galatina, and Bari, while exploring southern and central Puglia's food, wine, and history.
A few of the things you’ll be doing:
-Welcome drinks and dinner in Lecce
-Market tour, cooking class, and lunch
-A day learning all about olive oil
-Cheese and pasta-making class at a farm
-Visit the Unesco-protected, Trulli-filled, town of Alberobello
-Seafood feasts in Monopoli and Gallipoli
-Visit the pasta ladies in Bari
-and more (there is always more)

Oh man. I’d so love to join this. I’ve been obsessing over Puglia for a couple of years now and still haven’t quite gotten there. I’ll be at language school in Firenze when you finish in case you will be coming through…
This sounds like a Pugliese dream!
