I absolutely hate those DMV tests. They’re clearly designed by sadists who hang out in smoke-filled rooms devising ever more difficult questions to humiliate desperate drivers. Sorry your birthday was marred by their cruelty, but glad you found a perfect remedy at Funke. Happy Birthday, Evan!
When we moved back to California in 2020 after a 23 year absence, I studied the book for weeks in anticipation of taking the test, only to find to our delight that the requirement had been suspended due to covid. My husband and i even got our original driver's license numbers back! But we will have to take the test when it's time to renew in a couple years. I found that the manual includes a lot of arcane rules that can easily trip us up.
Happy B Day Evan, that food looks spectacular! I move to Oregon about 4 years ago and one of the things I DO NOT MISS about LA is the DMV. The DMV near me in Oregon is very easy to use , no crowding. I don't procrastinate but I do forget. I let my license expire once about a decade ago. Not because I was putting it off, I just didn't even remember that it was a thing I needed to do. On the birthday thing for me, ugh.

Not foolproof, but helpful.
I took them all and passed with flying colors. The questions on the actual test were an order of magnitude meaner.
